Mitchell Quinn – Cello

Profile
Mitch has played the cello since age 8. He studied under Liz Hugget at the Central Coast Conservatorium for ten years and achieved his 8th Grade AMEB in 2006. Over the next decade, Mitch completed an Advanced Science degree and a Doctorate in Physical Chemistry whilst performing with the Sydney Uni Symphony Orchestra where he met violinist James Guo. During a two year Post Doctoral at the University of Bristol, Mitch led the University Chamber Orchestra, and performed with the Symphony Orchestra and in various musical productions. One highlight was a run of Britten’s ‘Turn of the Screw’.
In addition to V2R, Mitch is involved in a range of groups in Sydney, including the Metropolitan, Modést and North Sydney Symphony Orchestras, and the Australian Chamber Music Society.
Practice for these groups is tolerated by Mitch’s partner Jacob and cat Audrey, and fits around his day job as Head of Technology development at MicroTau, a green energy deep tech startup. Over the past two years, Mitch has discovered the joys of lifting weights at a good gym, and loves to cook and entertain friends over a long lunch.
